Intimate Sacred Spaces – the Kitchen Shrine

I have found that creating a small kitchen shrine reminds me of the sacred connection between my, body, soul and the food that is being prepared. Furthermore, if the energy of the cook is of seminal importance to the quality of the meal, having a small shrine helps me bring my scattered brain back into the present moment— the slice of the knife into the blood orange, the smell of the cumin seeds popping in the hot oil, the delectable feel of a ripe mango in my hand. A shrine is an external reminder of the sacred inside us. Place things on the shrine that will remind you of what you need—a small statue, a photo of your teacher or mentors, fresh flowers—anything beautiful that speaks to your heart.

Share your shrine pictures on Facebook and Instagram.
